Are interviews for colleges scheduled in the order that they are received?

Are you wondering what criteria colleges use to determine when to schedule interviews? Learn if they're booked on a first-come, first-served basis or according to other criteria.

No, college interviews are usually not scheduled in the order they are received.

Colleges first sort the applications.

Then they typically prioritize applications based on a variety of factors such as student GPA, test scores and extracurricular activities.

Interviews may also be offered to applicants who come from underrepresented backgrounds or display unique talents that stand out among other applicants.

Each college has its own policies for scheduling interviews and these vary depending on the size of their applicant pool and resources available at each campus.

Generally speaking however, colleges tend to offer students with higher academic achievements earlier interview dates than those whose grades and/or test scores aren't quite up-to-par with others applying for admission into their school.

Ultimately it is up to individual colleges how they decide which students receive an invitation for an interview so there isn’t one standard answer when responding whether or not all interviews will follow chronological order after submission deadline passes.
